This family of four is seeking a full-time nanny once they relocate to Seattle this summer. Their daughter is 4 years old and their son is 2 years old. The kids are fun, good-natured, curious, active, playful, curious, and engaging. They enjoy reading, art projects, cooking, music, outdoors, and friends. Their daughter will be starting preschool this fall, 4 days a week (near Carkeek Park). A typical day includes breakfast, getting ready for the day, a morning trip to the park, library or similar, then home for lunch around 12pm. Both kids then nap for 2-3 hours. Afternoons are filled with playtime, getting outside or an activity. Dinnertime is usually 5:30/6pm. Their parenting style aligns most closely with RIE. They treat their children as capable, autonomous people from the start — they narrate rather than direct, allow them to struggle through problems without immediately intervening, offer help when requested, and favor natural consequences with age-appropriate explanation over imposed rules. They try not to helicopter, and are deliberate about unstructured, child-led play. The kids are used to a slightly different routine every day (sometimes Mom is home, sometimes Dad is home, sometimes the nanny is there when they wake up or putting them to bed).  Sometimes the parents are home when the nanny is there, but they stay out of the way and don’t interfere or micromanage.  Sometimes the parents are sleeping after working after an overnight shift.  They try to keep the fundamental parts of each day consistent for the kids (wake up time, meals, naps, bedtime), but apart from that there is a lot of variability and flexibility is key.  A nanny who thrives with the family will be someone who can hold the fundamentals while adapting to everything else. Their ideal nanny is responsible, independent, loving, attentive and engaged, punctual and reliable. The parents prioritize their relationships with one another and treating each other with respect and kindness. They're ultimately trying to raise kind, independent, and curious children who have a strong sense of who they are and what they value. They are fair, honest, and reliable employers who treat their nannies as the professionals they are. They genuinely value their nanny's observations and perspective on their kids. Both parents work in the medical field, so the schedule is a unique element of working with this family. It has its benefits—stretches of multiple days off, extra paid time off—but the nanny must be comfortable with a shifting schedule. Generally, they need the nanny when their work schedules overlap. Mom works in the Emergency Department and Dad works in the ICU.  Their shift schedules vary depending on the week and there is no set schedule.  Sometimes they work shifts in the early morning, other times they work evening or overnight shifts. Their current set up is the following: they make schedules on a Google calendar released no less than one month in advance based on their collective work schedules. They have guaranteed 40 hours, with overtime up to 45. Occasional overnights or on-call shifts (where the nanny must be available to come work if called in). Responsibilities include: childcare, child meal prep, children’s laundry, transportation, and light pet care. This position has a long-term outlook.
