This weekend we made gingerbread play dough. We love making our play dough at home, it's so easy and costs way less than store bought. This one It smells so wonderful!
I swapped out out cookie cutters and tools for Christmas themed ones and the kids made play dough snowmen.
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 cup water
2 tbsp vegetable oil (I've also substituted coconut oil before)
spices like cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves (I just used what I had which was cinnamon and nutmeg and eyeballed)
food coloring to make it brown (10 drops of yellow, 1 drop red, 1 drop blue)
Directions:
mix all ingredients in a bowl
pour into a medium pot on the stove over medium heat
stir and cook until the play dough starts to thicken and forms a ball
take off heat and let cool
put the play dough on a work surface and knead until smooth
store in an air tight container in fridge when done
