Have you ever made salt dough? We usually make it around Christmas every year. It's so easy to make and has multiple uses. Last year we made ornaments and a baby's handprint plaque. This year we used the dough to make handmade gift tags for our Christmas presents.
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup salt
1 cup cold water
Directions:
Step 1: Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C).
Step 2: Mix flour and salt together in a bowl. Slowly mix water, a little bit at a time, into flour mixture until dough is smooth and easy to handle. Knead dough thoroughly.
Step 3: Press dough flat and use desired cookie cutters to create your shapes. Make sure to use a straw to punch out a hole in the shape before baking. Arrange on a baking sheet.
Step 4: Air dry for a day or two or bake in the oven until dry and hard (about 2 hours).
You can leave them plain like this or paint them. We like to add glitter and/or paint and top with Mod Podge. Attach string to the shape to hang or fasten on gifts.
